This training provides an overview and orientation to a transformed mobile crisis assessment that prioritizes a person-centered, brief intervention, and resolution-focused approach. The crisis assessment is used to mitigate any immediate risk of danger to self or others, provide effective crisis support, identify appropriate follow-up care, and avoid unnecessary and inappropriate use of emergency departments, inpatient hospitalizations, or law enforcement.
Best practices for mobile crisis assessment will be shared. The presenters will explore effective approaches such as motivational interviewing and the narrative storytelling model. They will also discuss vignettes and scenarios where situational awareness is key. These real-world examples demonstrate how providers can manage and regulate their emotional responses and reactions during mobile crisis response.
