Responding to crises where an individual has a co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) requires a specialized set of knowledge, skills, and experience. This training is designed to support mobile crisis team members in recognizing when a person is struggling with co-occurring disorders, adopting evidence-based protocols for guiding the team’s response, and implementing evidence-based practice strategies for delivering safe and high-quality person-centered care. Additionally, this training highlights the unique and valuable insights of a lived experience expertise and demonstrates the crucial role of peer support specialists in best practice crisis interventions for those with co-occurring disorders. Participants will learn some common co-occurring disorders found in California across ages, regions, and diverse populations. This training will additionally focus on strategies for responding to individuals at risk of or actively experiencing an overdose.
