9. Mobile Crises Training - Crisis Response Strategies for Adult Individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) is proudly presented to you by CEQ Santa Barbara County. Thank you. We hope that you enjoy your course.
Mobile crisis teams are effective in supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in crisis. Well-prepared and sensitive crisis responders can make all the difference for individuals and families who are managing their own distress or their loved one’s crisis. In this training, we will discuss how crises manifest in the lives of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. We will also consider ways in which mobile crisis teams can effectively assess crises and provide brief intervention and relief for individuals and family members, using approaches that are person-centered, culturally responsive, and sensitive. Additionally, we will briefly discuss the similarities and differences related to addressing crisis among adult individuals with disabilities vs. youth with disabilities.
