Antihypertensive Agents: The ABCs of Hypertension

It is well known that hypertension (HTN) is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease, including myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke (Whelton et al., 2018). Healthcare providers (HCPs) must be aware of the current guidelines that drive HTN management. This includes knowledge of the different classes of medications that are used to treat HTN. A thorough understanding of these medications will guide the care teams’ assessment, monitoring, and education of patients about the management of hypertension.

The goal of this course is to provide nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and pharmacists in acute care settings with updated information on the management of hypertension so they can collaborate on the implementation of best management practices for the treatment of hypertension.
