Description of Course The course illustrates the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) as a multi-purpose tool developed for children’s services to support decision making, including level of care and service planning. It is also utilized to facilitate quality improvement initiatives and to allow for the monitoring of outcomes of services. Learning Objectives • Familiarizing staff with the CANS and prepare them for the CANS certification online • Define the CANS and its key six principles and components • Show how to navigate the six different domains and related supplemental sections of the CANS tool • Describe the item content of the CANS items as well as the scoring of the items
