Tobacco Cessation Training, by the Tobacco Prevention Support Program
Tobacco Cessation Training, by the Tobacco Prevention Support Program is proudly presented to you by CEQ Santa Barbara County. Thank you. We hope that you enjoy your course.
The Tobacco Cessation training, put on by the Tobacco Prevention Support Program (TPSP), will offer clinicians a clear path to support clients who want to attempt to stop smoking. The training will address integrating questions about smoking into the assessment, what to do when the client answers "yes" to 'do you want to stop smoking,' options for treatment that clients have that do not need to be met by our staff, treatment planning for tobacco cessation - treatment referrals, online referral-; pharmacotherapy issues, and how to address relapses. The training will also discuss the many brief interventions available to clinicians and how to approach someone who is smoking, depending on their stage of change. Staff will experience that the TPSP training provides them with immediately actionable tools that they can implement along with the assessment and treatment planning processes, in a painless and very user friendly manner. This training supports the 3-4-50 initiative towards wellness, supported by SAMHSA and based on evidence. 3-4-50 means that three health behaviors elevate risk for four chronic conditions that together cause more than fifty percent of deaths. The three behaviors are unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, and tobacco use. The four chronic conditions are cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, and diabetes.
